The Model 10 speaker is Sanders' flag ship. It is the best speaker Roger knows how to make after 30+ years of research, design, and testing of electrostatic speaker. This is simply a no-compromise speaker that solves all the problems that plague other electrostatic speakers.

The Model 10 currently comes in two models:
~
The Model 10 will play at concert hall levels and can be used with multi-thousand watt amplifiers without arcing or damage. No protective circuitry is used or needed.
It will reproduce the full dynamic range of anymusic without strain.
![]() Deep powerful bass is assured with the use of a transmission line woofer system. The woofer system has been specifically designed to stop and start faster than other woofers so that perfect integration with a massless ESL finally is achieved. Passive crossovers are not used as they are seriously flawed and degrade the performance of any speaker. Expensive electronic crossovers and biamplification are used to achieve spectacular levels of performance. This speaker practically disappears into the room, both sonically and visually. This helps with the age old problem of the speakers taking over the room. This integrated speaker system will be a worthy anchor of a reference-level high-end audio system of the highest performance possible.
Features of both Model 10b and Model 10c
• Perfect Insulation
• The amplifier cannot damage the Ultrastat panel. • No protective circuitry required. • Panel is arc-proof. • Extremely rugged and durable. • Immune to dust, dirt, humidity, insects, pet fur, and foreign objects. ![]() • Higher sensitivity (94 dB)
• Highest precision - made with computerized diamond routing equipment.
• Greater percentage of open area and visual transparency. • More attractive appearance than perforated metal designs. MODEL 10b
The Model 10b comes with analog crossovers using 24 dB/octave slopes and a crossover point of 330 Hz. The Model 10c comes with digital crossovers using 48 dB/octave slopes and a crossover point of 172 Hz. Both use Linquitz-Riley filters. The analog crossover in the 10b is incorporated into the same chassis as the ESL amplifier and includes a 600 watt bass amplifier. This is called a "crossover/amplifier" and comes as part of the speaker system. The crossover/amp allows you to control the midrange "warmth" and "fullness" and the equalization of the deep bass. This makes it possible for you to adjust the speaker to suit your personal taste in sound as well as largely compensate for any flaws in the acoustics of your listening room. The crossover amp has an overall level control. This allows you to best match the gain of the crossover/amp to your preamp. Also, the level control of the crossover/amp makes it possible to use it without a preamp if you have only a single source. The level controls are operated through precision, electronic circuits with 99, discrete, 1 dB steps. All controls are operational from both the front panel of the crossover/amp or by remote control (a remote is included with the package). The remote makes it possible for you to adjust the various levels in real time from your listening chair. A front-panel, digital readout is used so you can monitor the various levels. The crossover/amp has both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs to accommodate any associated components. The crossover/amp is available with either black or silver face plates and cosmetically matches the ESL amp so they form a lovely, matched pair in your equipment rack. The Model 10c uses the latest in digital crossover technology. Digital crossovers offer steeper crossover slopes (48 dB/octave) than analog crossovers (24 dB/octave), which means that the crossover point can be much lower (172 Hz instead of 330 Hz). This makes it possible to completely eliminate the woofer from the upperbass and midrange, which is totally produced only by the ESL in the 10c system. In other words, The 10c is a full-range, crossoverless ESL from the upper bass on up. The woofer only reproduces the bass. Additional Features of Model 10b
• The crossover amplifier chassis is the same one used in our Electrostatic Amplifier, so the styling of the two matches.
• Both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs are standard. • Independent control of the midrange and bass. This makes it possible to better match the speaker to your room acoustics and personal preferences. • An overall gain control. This is the same, sophisticated, electronic, level control used on our preamplifier. It provides one-hundred, 1 dB steps with channel matching to within 0.1 dB. This makes it possible to match the crossover to your preamplifier's level control for optimum sensitivity. Since the system level can be controlled by the crossover, it is possible to bypass a preamplifier completely and run a single source directly to the crossover. • The unit has a blue, digital readout that shows the level of each function similar to our preamplifier. • All functions are available from both the front panel and included remote control. The remote control is so convenient that you may prefer to leave your manual preamp's volume turned up, and control the system level with the crossover's remote-control unit. Specifications Model 10b
MODEL 10c
The 10c performs like a full-range, crossoverless ESL -- but with the deep powerful bass and high output that is simply not available from non-hybrid, full-range ESLs. In short, you can have it all. You no longer have to compromise high output and deep bass for the purity of a full-range ESL.
The digital crossover is just that -- a crossover. There is no amplifier built into it. So a Magtech amplifier is included as part of the speaker system to use on the woofers. The Magtech comes with either a black or silver face plate and matches the ESL amp so that you can have a matched pair if you wish. The digital crossover is incredibly flexible and allows you to totally control all aspects of speaker performance. You can alter the crossover point (any frequency you wish), the crossover slopes (6 dB/octave to 48 dB/octave), the filter types (Butterworth, Bessel, or Linquitz-Riley), the equalization of both the woofer and the ESL, the gains of all channels and of the equalization, the phasing, time delay, and even the time-alignment of the drivers. You can match the acoustics of your room and your personal taste better than with any other crossover. In short, you can get the speakers to sound any way you wish. The digital crossover is really a small computer. It has a graphic screen on its faceplate that you can use to make adjustments and you can even plug it into a personal computer and make all adjustments from your computer. Of course, the digital crossover comes from the factory completely programmed so that you can simply plug it in and the system will be operational. You do not have to make any adjustments. But it is nice to know that you can if you wish. The digital crossover can be operated both balanced and unbalanced. It has both analog and digital inputs and outputs. So you can feed it a digital signal directly (such as from the digital output of a CD player) if you prefer doing so rather than feeding it an analog signal. The digital crossover has superb specifications, with distortion less than 0.004%, S/N greater than 96 dB, and utterly flat frequency response. It operates at 24/96 (24 bit, 96 KHz sampling). So do not think that it degrades the sound because it is digital. Both it and the analog crossover sound perfectly transparent. Additional Features of Model 10c
• Includes Magtech Amplifier which matches the style of our ESL Amplifier.• Both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs are standard.
• Includes Digital Electronic Crossover which allows you to completely control all aspects of crossover/speaker parameters.
This includes:
1. Crossover Frequency
2. Crossover Slope (up to 48dB per octave)
3. Filter Types (Butterworth, Bessel, Linquitz-Riley)
Which Model 10 should you chose?
The analog 10b or the digital 10c? The analog 10b system is simpler to set up and operate and you can do so with the convenience of remote control. It can be used as a preamp, which you cannot do with the digital crossover in the 10c.
The digital 10c system allows you vastly more flexibility and adjustability. So if you are technically-inclined, you will enjoy the freedom offered to you by the digital system. The 10c system's woofer operates only in the bass, so gets you closer to the performance of a full-range ESL than does the analog system. The integration between the woofer and ESL is outstanding in both speakers, so the difference between the two systems is not profound. But the digital system offers slightly cleaner midrange quality that is every bit as good as a "pure", full-range, crossoverless ESL. The choice is yours. The price of either Model 10 system is the same ($13,000). Different wood finishes [Natural Cherry, Natural Walnut, Natural Maple] are available.
